Abergement-le-Grand, Jura, France
One could say that Stéphane Planche is the living memory of pure Jura wines. Established as a wine merchant in 2002 at Jardins Saint-Vincent in the heart of Arbois, he has fiercely contributed to the reputation of the region's wines. "My challenge was to succeed in selling red Jura bottles. Now, it's having a red Jura bottle to sell," he quips in the book "Entre les Vignes du Jura, #3" by Guillaume Laroche, Cédric Blattrie, and Harry Annoni.
However, Stéphane doesn't stop there. In 2020, he decided to make wine with Charles Dagand (founder of Octavin with Alice Bouvot). They travel across France to glean grapes from their favorite winemakers (Gérald Oustric, Vincent Laffage, etc.) to "make wines that we can drink, simple, enjoyable, and honest wines." We can confirm the pleasure.
Since 2024, Stéphane has been working alone, reducing his quantities, while clarifying and refining the direction his cuvées are taking.
