La Momoterie

The Momoterie

Savièse, Valais, Switzerland

Timothée Place, originally from the Grenoble region, first settled in Valais to practice his profession as a sommelier. There, he met Andrea and Marc Balzan, the couple behind the famous Domaine de Chèrouche. Alongside them, Tim discovered the work of living organisms in its purest form, both in the vineyard and in the cellar, until they offered him the opportunity to take over some vineyards in Ayent. This was all in parallel with a full-time job at Romulus, a winery that has been practicing organic farming for 30 years, a rarity in this region.

This was the beginning of the adventure for Timothée. A little over one hectare to start, consisting of Merlot, Gamay, Petite Arvine, Chasselas, Muscat, etc. His vines, all over 30 years old, are located between 600 and 850m above sea level.
2022 marks his first vintage. The wines are impressively distinctive and meticulously crafted despite a scorching year.
Year after year, La Momoterie's wines only get better, and we eagerly await what's next.
